How To Find The Exact Colour For Your Exterior

Choosing the exterior paint is as important as choosing the inside paint for your house. The exterior paint is priced equally and you can choose from the same range of colours as well. It is equally easy to apply the exterior paint but generally these paints are more durable. However, you need to consider a few things before you select exterior paint.

As a painter and decorator in North London, we use both oil based and latex based paints for exterior painting. However, the DIY enthusiasts would find it easier to use the latex paints. Latex paints are water based but these paints are tough enough to withstand the harsh weather elements. Oil based paints are harder to apply but they provide much higher quality finish. The colours are more vibrant, they have more depth and the overall finish is way more professional. If you are not sure how to apply oil based paints while you want to enjoy the advantages, you should look for a professional painter or you should compromise and use latex paints.

Selecting the ideal paint is not easy. However, there is one thumb rule which you can follow to choose the most appropriate colour.

If you want to apply the paint on wood directly, you should use oil based paints. Oil based paints work better on wood as they stick to wood better.  The latex paint would peel off from the surface and the finish will be awful.
